Knotty Ash Primary School Celebrates Double Award Success

Knotty Ash Primary School is celebrating a significant double achievement, reflecting excellence across both curriculum leadership and sport.

In September 2025, the school was awarded the prestigious Primary Geography Quality Mark, recognising outstanding leadership and innovation in the teaching of geography. The award acknowledges the school’s commitment to a high-quality, engaging curriculum that builds curiosity and understanding of the world. Through enquiry-led learning, purposeful fieldwork and creative approaches, geography is brought to life across the school, with staff and pupils working together to enrich learning experiences. This recognition positions Knotty Ash Primary School as a leader in geography education, setting a strong benchmark for teaching and learning locally and beyond.

Adding to this success, Knotty Ash Primary School and Deaf Resource Base has also achieved the School Games Gold Mark, a national award launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust. The Gold Mark recognises the school’s sustained commitment to competitive sport and providing pupils with regular opportunities to take part in local inter-school events. It also reflects strong practice in inclusion, leadership, volunteering and officiating within school sport.

Schools are assessed across participation, inclusion, competition, workforce and clubs, with the collective support of staff, parents and families playing a key role in securing the award. Particular thanks go to Miss Hunter for coordinating the application and capturing the breadth of the school’s sporting achievements.

Head of School Mr England said: “We are immensely proud of our pupils and staff. Achieving the  School Games Gold Mark reflects their hard work, teamwork and spirit. We look forward to continuing to provide outstanding sporting opportunities and aiming for further success in 2026.”
